I understand the difference between programming a button on a Partner phone to ring another extension, i.e ext. 12. You can program the button as Intercom 12, and that person will have to manually answer the call to connect it. Whereas if you program the button as intercom *12, it will auto connect to that extension when pressed. I tried the latter, and ext 12 could hear me automatically, but I could not hear the person responding thru my speakerphone. HF and mic are both enabled on both phones, and I cannot find any references to this in any manuals. Any assistance would be appreciated.

The receiving extension must have their HFAI button engaged BEFORE the call comes through - then they will be able to answer without doing anything, and when the internal caller hangs up, so will their extension.
If it is not, as you have found, they will hear you, but you will not hear them. They will need to lift the handset (turning off the speaker), or press the HFAI button to answer, but also press speaker when finished to hang up.

Thanks for the info. The main issue is the extension initiating the call cannot hear the person receiving the call once they answer, via the person making the call's speakerphone. I hope that explains the issue better.

Could it be too much background noise in the office of the person that initiated the call?
Speaker phone on Partners are not full duplex.

I'd verify straight through cabling. You can cross the voice pair with no issues but I have seen problems when the data pairs are crossed.
