The Nortel Venture was a huge failure.
You're asking the wrong people about buying on line and doing it yourself. Many phone systems have "undocumented features"... things to avoid, feature interactions that could lead to trouble and unpredictable behavior.
DYI will have warranty issues. If you hire an installer they will warrant their labour as well as the equipment.
Hire a reputable pro in your area, you will be more satisified in the long run.

If your needs are 4 telephones and ksu, The price
should be some what less on a afforable system.
Taken into account the area you are located in.
Should try Pansaonic,NEC 1000, or VODAVI STSe
all system very good for your needs of small office. If installed proper you will get many many years of good service from these systems.

If you are a new business I have got to say that your communication system is the one area where you should not by trying to save money! If money is an issue lease or buy a refurbished unit from a reputable dealer/installer. I don't know exactly what business you are in but I know that if I can not call you...or understand you when I call that I will not be utilizing your services.
Seriously, I would not cut any corners on my communication system or my data/record keeping system period.
Regarding your question on self installtion of a system...would you advise us to provide our own therapy to save a buck at the cost of our health?
We certainly would not advise you to install your own system at the cost of your new business's health.

A final thanks to all of you on this issue. You all convinced me to hire a company to install a phone system and after sharing your feedback, my partners agree. We have narrowed it down to 2 companies and are in the process of checking references. They both are offering the NEC Aspire S system. I will post when we finally get it installed. Thanks again.

Glad to hear it --- seen too many companies who didn't and now have issues. Your telephone and computer companies are a real base in your profit team. They help maintain your profit stream. Let us know how it comes out. KLD
