I have a Mitel 200-SX that I would like to hook up to an Asterisk server so I can do VoIP. The card in the Asterisk server has 4 Analog ports so I am wanting to do is have all calls that start with a leading digit of 7 pushed down one of my available analog ports from my Mitel to my Asterisk server. What form should I looking at in order to this?

Thanks, Scott

It's been a while since I've messed with a Mitel, but you should be able to use ars to select a line group, then have the trunks in that line group go to Asterisk.

Also, you'll need an fxs card in the Asterisk server to connect to a trunk circuit in the mitel. I don't know how to make calls go out of the Mitel on an analog station port, if that's what you're trying to do, if so then you'll need an fxo card in Asterisk.

Thanks for your repsonse. My Asterisk server does have 2 FXO and 2 FXS ports on it. I'm just not sure I can force a call from Mitel down an analog line port on a ONS Line Card based on a leading digit. I'll look at the trunk groups from and see whats happening there. Thanks.

I think I might have confused you, and maybe even myself. Use an analog trunk port on the Mitel, not a station port, put it in a separate trunk group, and use that trunk group for dial 7. Create an ars leading digit for 7 (same as for 9) and have that ars use the new trunk group.

Well not knowing under what Trunk Descriptor to place the Trunk I went and made a hunt group with the Analog line and placed an access number with it so all I had to do was dial an 8. It seems to be working great except I wish it would not ring the extension and pass the call to FXO port. The FXO card is set up not to ring so I am now wondering if the Mitel sends down a false ring tone. Thanks for responding.

I think the real way to do this is with a T1 card. I just placed an order for one. :-)
