Hi all,
What is your take on the Mitel 3300 IP system?

I have been installing the 3300 for 2 years now but have doubted the product from time to time as it doesn't seem to be all that stable.

The Mitel 3300 is like other IP systems it only works as well as the network it resides on . We have had very little trouble with them .

I agree with OBTW, It is very powerfull. We have many systems installed with full IP & teleworker, and per nodes with dnic sets and analog. Most sites are running great. With no troubles at all.

Mr. Telephone Man
I could not of said it better . We have 3300's working with / without per nodes . We use them for a wide range of services, IP trunking , interface to Mitel 6510 and Call Center applications just to name a few. We have very few trouble tickets called in due to 3300 failures .

Thanks guys. The reason for the post is that we have some strange problems ranging from 5220 phones "hanging" to audio problems on BRI lines to one way audio on the embedded trunks on MX controllers.

The one way audio issue has nothing to do with networking, as I dialed from an analogue phone over an analogue trunk and got one way audio. Doing the same thing on an LS/GS trunk card does not have the same problem.

Regards,
Eugene

The one way audio has everything to do with a network issue . Keep plugging away , you will find it . smile

OBTW I don't think it's to do with network issues. Dialing form an analogue extension via an analogue trunk does not at all traverse any form of IP at any stage on the 3300.

Thanks for the input though. Your tips and input is what makes forums like these worthwhile.

many thanks,
Eugene

MitelPassion I do agree, an ASU to Analog trunk call is going through the TDM and is controlled by RTC. E2t is not involved at all
But, it is still controlled by RTC.
Something is obviosly going wrong in call control.
I would not rule out problems with your network setup. I would just double check everything.

What software version are you running??? I know that they did have some issues with early software versions: auto conferences & one way audio.
Are scheduled reboots on?
Does it go away after a reboot???
Do a healthy system check
No alarms?
Check for DSP errors.

Hi TelephoneMan,

Here's the thing. I do have a DSP alarm. The system has been over licensed with compression licenses. This was a mistake made by our sales team. They quoted to many "8 packs". The problem though is unassiging the DSP licenses.

We have swopped the controller, patch panels etc etc. I am running release 6.0. A reboot does fix the problem but only for a few hours. I am conviced it has something to do with those DSP licenses. We have also had auto conferencing happening on this controller. Weird!
