I have been requested by a customer to have voicemail transfer customers to a single line set (ons port) and if the ext is busy to return busy signal to the outside caller. I can't seem to do that the voicemail always pulls the caller back . Any ideas ? Oh this is an sx200el with express messenger voicemail and pri trunks , I dont know the sw on the pbx.Thank You

From a digital or analog phone off the pbx can you transfer and release to that ons port if it is busy ?

you need need the voicemail to do a blind transfer and the only way you can generate a busy signal from the mitel is the called ext can not be forwarded anywhere

Kmetech Are you sure even using blind transfer that the voicemail port will release the call ? I will have to setup the same scenario and test it . What I don't understand is why you would want a caller to transfered to a busy signal ? Thus forcing the caller to hang up !

You may want to set up mailbox with a recording of a busy signal, then set it to restart instead of taking a message.
Kind of a backwards way to do it, but possible...
Like OBTW, I don't understand the application.

I meant to say if you can get the MM to do a true blind transfer !
yeah the whole point of voicemail system is the whole busy/no answer to a message concept why spend 4 grand on a MM when you could get a cheap auto attendant to blind tranfer calls and get a busy signal

the application is after hours the customer's parts desk has a cordless phone (1 call at a time ) , to get to the parts desk you have to dial 2 from voicemail auto attendant . They do not want to check for messages on a mailbox and would like to give out a busy signal if the ext that vm is trf to is busy , this way they think the outside caller will hang up and try again later. I think the only way is to record reorder or busy tone in the mailbox the call comes back to on an unsuccessful transfer.Thank's

Just a thought, you could make him a ucd agent with an overlow rad telling them to wait or callback.

I don't know if I'm grasping this, but can't you set the extension to forward to voice mail on no answer instead of busy/no answer in the condition code in forwarding? (condition code 3 instead of 4)?
