On a Main Control Card for a 200D there are 2 1488's at UH10 and UJ12 and 2 1489's at UJ10 and UJ11.
Does anyone know if all 4 chips need replacement for SMDR?

Thanks,

Rich

You are better off getting an advanced replacement
then pulling chips out of that card you
could compound your problems

Thanks - except I have a customer who every 3 months or so needs a replacement card as thunder storms roll through Houston. I am trying to provide a more economical solution than advance replacement every 12 weeks. I believe I can solder a couple of 14 pin chip sockets and just replace the $2.00 chips a lot cheaper than advance replacements.

Does anyone know if all 4 chips need to be replaced and if not which ones?

Thanks,

Rich

TDS has a good alternative to your original thought. If you don't do much fine soldering, you could REGRET your socket idea. But, I have done that myself. 'Course I came out of bench level electronic repair in the late 70's to jump into the interconnect business. (And some days, I wish I'd stayed where I was! Hindsight is always 100%)JC

Thanks for the response - surge protection was done BEFORE the first hit as was an APC RS232 surge protector.

I like the idea of the opto isolator - Thanks TDS
