How exactly - from start to finish - do a program an analog set as a hotline phone? I want to be able to pick up the handset and dial the console.

I don't remember ever doing this on a 20 and it's been a long time since I futzed around with one, but on later systems you made it a manual line in the COS of the station.

Mike; First you need to identify the equipment number of the extension you want to be the 'housephone'. In form 620, set the 3rd bit to a "2" to make the phone COS 2. In form 612 (COS 2), go to register 2 (first digit), and set bit e to a 1. That causes any set in COS 2 to be a "housephone".

I think he is also wanting to know how to get into the system, and program it."START TO FINISH" he stated.Apparently he doesn't have a manual,or maybe he is an enduser,By his profile I couldn't tell.If any of the above are true it would probably take someone on the phone with him,or better call a Tech.

one of the ways you can determine how much help to offer is to go to their profile and click on "view recent posts". In this case you will see that abovealltel has been around quite awhile, and is a tech. You might also note that all his posts are requesting help on different systems but not offering any help in any. Futher review shows that when he gets his answer, he doesn't return to say thanks or that worked or anything else. How much help you offer members like that for free is your call. It's always good to check out who you are helping. Mark

you are also assuming a 503 generic. Altho more prevalent. SX20 also came in a 400 and 500 generic that used diferent registers.
