I have an SX200 system with analog and IP phones connected. Should the SX200 be setup as a DHCP server for the IP phones or should a static address be used for the SX200? Also what impact would there be if the SX200 was setup as a DCHP server and there is already a DHCP server running on the computer network?

Thanks in advance.

the system can work both ways if it is on its own subnet segragated from the data it can be the dhcp server. or you can set up the current dhcp server with custon options so that when it sees option 130-MITEL IP PHONE it tags it for the voice vlan.

If the systewm has the premier database in it it is already configured as a DHCP server and if you look in the Technician's Manual in the Appendix with the Default Database in form 47, you'll see the values programmed in the switch when you power it up. If you are not networking with other gear leave these values alone.

whats the difference between system IP and DCHP server under form 47? IS it normal to have a DHCP server with an ip of x.x.x.0?

This is an interesting 1 for me! I'm working on upgrades and I'm at 19.3. This may leave my head swimming, but don't stop now! John C.
