Hi
Is anyone using E911 in a Campus enviroment where multiple buildings share the same PRI'S . If so what is your opinion on the realiabilty and how much time do you spend updating the database do to people moving around and new hires / newly fired . Our current management of 911 routing is getting out of control .
Thank you for your time responding . I would appreciate any new ideas also .

Have you thought about Tone Commander's E-911 system that installs in line with the PRI(s) and does the translations for calling party location? I don't know what kind of switch you are talking about here, but they claim that it can interpet the calling extension number and provide E911 with a physical address or better yet, route the call to the appropriate 911 dispatcher for VoIP situations.
I agree with you about the new hire situation. We have three larger customers that require just about the equivalent of one person full time to handle their moves, adds and changes. With some, we had to put our foot down and tell them that extension numbering blocks could not be altered. Even though that's not necessarily true, once we explained that it's also for a housekeeping measure, they understood.

Our situation with the most troublesome sites . We have 6 SX2000 clustered with an opsman server that updates the other PBX'S within this cluster if we add a DID Hunt group or move a phone from one PBX to another PBX you get the picture . It works great and saves us alot of time not having to access each PBX to add the change . With all the moves between the buildings we have to do we have to be vey careful when programming to make sure they are in the correct Interconnect Restriction for that building . Today I spent 6 hours going line by line to verify 2541 extensions& numbers where correct due to a oversight by one of our Tech's . We need a new solution but have to justify an FTE to support the E911 application .
