Paging
Description
Paging lets you connect to loudspeaker/paging equipment to access individual paging zones or all paging zones simultaneously. Before you are connected to the paging equipment, you will hear a two-second burst of tone.
Conditions
• Paging applies to DNI and E&M paging systems.
• You will be disconnected from the pager if you perform a switchhook flash.
• You cannot Transfer, Forward, Camp-on, or set a Callback to the paging system.
• Different individual paging zones can be accessed simultaneously; however, you will receive a busy tone when you attempt to:
- page a zone already in use
- page while an all-zone page is underway
- make an all-zone page when an individual-zone page is underway.
• You can interrupt a page if Loudspeaker Pager Override is enabled in your station’s COS, but you cannot interrupt an all-zone page with an individual-zone page.
• You cannot be interrupted by another page if Loudspeaker Pager Equivalent Zone Override Security is enabled in your station’s COS unless an all-zone page attempts to interrupt your individual-zone page.
• You cannot use Paging when you are using Handsfree Operation.
• The system support up to 15 zones (plus a sixteenth zone number for accessing all the zones simultaneously). Zones may be designated 00 to 15.
• On SUPERSET telephones, the SPEAKER key will not have any effect when you are paging.
• On attendant consoles, the pager cannot be accessed if current call information is displayed in the SOURCE or DESTINATION area.
Programming
• For E&M trunks, program the E&M trunk card used for paging as Loudspeaker Pager in the System Configuration form. For a DNIC Music On Hold / Pager (DMP) unit, program "DMP" in channel #1 and channel #2 of the DNI Circuit Assignment form.
• Program the Zone Number and Interconnect Number in the Loudspeaker Paging Assignment form. In multiple-zone systems, all-zone paging must be designated 00 whether all-zone paging is enabled or not.
• Ensure that the station is not restricted from Paging in the Interconnect Restriction Table.
• Enable Pager Access - All Zones and/or Pager Access - Individual Zones in the Class of Service Options Assignment form.
• If you intend to use a feature access code in Operation, assign a code to Loudspeaker Paging in the Feature Access Code Assignment form.
• If you intend to use a feature key in Operation, program a Paging key in the Multiline Set Key Assignment form.
