Weird one guys 5340 handset on 3300 Cxi with ver 8.0.7.16_2. if you boot the phone on the lan where it's home controller is located it gets DHCP from the controller and sits until it says tftp server unavailable, retrying. manully configure phone to boot off another controller at another site, boots OK. Take phone to other site and it will boot from both controllers. Phone cannot ping controller when booted on lan but can ping switch in the Cxi. Site is Vlan'd and all other phones work fine (5212). Have been beating my head over this for nearly a week and need help any ideas?

How is DHCP handled? What do you see happenning on boot? Are all phones plugged into the CXi? A little more info as to config would help

The phones initially boot from a win 2003 dhcp server release and go into vlan 6 the then obtain dhcp from the mitel 3300 in vlan 6. the 5340 then sits in vlasn 6 with it's ip address on screen then after about 5 mins reports "tftp server unavailable - retrying" phones are connected to the cxi and an alloy poe switch. it does not seem to matter which switch the phone plugs into.

betcha the VLAN is staticlly asigned on the phone. Default the phone settings
Or you have a switch problem, have you tried another data jack, maybe that switch port has no access to vlan 6

We have tried static vlan, all dhcp assigned and several phones straight from packaging. one phone has been transport to another site for the same customer and works fine on both controllers. Tried on the alloy switch at home site and direct into the mitel with everything else disconnected( manual vlan 6)...same result. Also completely rebuilt controller ( very late friday night). All to no avail

Do you have option 125 in your DHCP scope? and do you have any available address's in your range

Yes Option 125 is there and the phone gets an IP address from DHCP on the mitel, ther are 32 spare IP in the scope. All phones are booted using 125 and work fine except this 5340. Once the phone has an ip address from the mitel it can no longer ping it or tftp from it. I was sort of going down the path of it possibly being an ARP issue where the mitel's arp tables were screwed, that why we rebuilt the box to no avail. we saw some unusual arp requests from the 3300 when we put a laptop into vlan 6 and pinged the controller whilst running wireshark on the network
