I am about to program my first AX so I have a basic question

Does Bay 1 still contain all the IP and voice mail ports etc? And are all the rest of the cards in the shelf considered Bay 2

Thanks

Dane

As to the above - I have not been in the system yet and won't until it is on site, but I am trying to create cross connect sheets for the on-site installer.

Yes, and AX uses the 24 cct ONSP cards. Each card has it's own cable, not using pair 25.

What do you mean "not using 25 pair"?

Do you mean like the ASUs each card has it's own 25 pair cable that plugs into it?

Hi Dane, I will include a little about the AX, Mitel has a good bulletin on it, below is just a part of it. No ASU with the AX one unit only.

The AX Controller provides 12 line card slots which can accommodate the 24 port ONSp Card (50005731) or the Analog Combo card, which provides 4 analog trunks and 12 analog extensions (50005104). These are the same cards that are currently used in the ASU II that is supported on the MX Controller. For high density analog solutions, it provides a single chassis that can support up to a maximum of 288 analog extension ports - from a single power cord - unlike the MX, which would require power for the controller and each ASU II (with each ASU II supporting 48 ports). Additionally, the AX Controller can be fitted with a second power supply to provide a level of hardware redundancy - again, not possible with the MX Controller.
The SX-200 ICP AX Controller can support up to 248 IP Phones in addition to the 288 analog and supports the full range of Mitel IP Phones that are currently supported on the SX-200 ICP.

The SX-200 ICP AX Controller can support the following MMC cards:
Dual T1/E1 Card
Combo T1/E1 Card
Dual DSP
Quad DSP

Specifically, the SX-200 ICP AX Controller does not support the Quad CIM or FIM, and therefore does not support the ASU II's or Bays, nor does it support the DSP II module.

Unlike the MX Controller, the AX Controller will use an ONS port to support Music on Hold and overhead paging integration. The IP Paging Unit (50001754) is also available to deliver paging services over an IP connection - for example, in a location remote to the main controller.

As stated earlier, Release 5.0 software also enhances the proposition for the hospitality market through the introduction of the 5540 IP Console.

Not using pair 25 means that that last pair on the block is unused as there are only 24 ports to the ONS cards. There are either 16 or 24 port ONS cards, the 16s are pretty rare now. I know this isn't the answer to your original question, however I thought i'd mention for clarficiation on not using pair 25 of the 25 pair cable.
