It's kind of like... You know the joke about the guy who says to the IT guy, "My modem isn't working, so can you just put the internet on a floppy for me?"
Well, the thing that makes that joke funny is that there's no possible way to explain to the guy why that wouldn't work. It's kind of like that. There's a lot of foundational things missing, in order for the explanations to make sense. You do a lot better getting on the good side of a tech and getting him to teach you things from the ground up.
If your "small company" is trying to "get into hospitality" and won't give you funds to learn what you need to know, maybe you should look for a different company. Hospitality, and the telephony associated with it, are not something you learn by jumping in and doing it. I mean, what are you going to do if the Call Accounting starts to act up? Or the PMS interface?

"im pretty good at trouble shooting with micros and hilton. there pretty good at admiting when its their issue ATT etc. not soo much." -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And NOW you know what 'tg' means. Tel boxes are easy, mainly because they do only 1 thing and do it very well. And they have an EXCELLENT manual. (Must be, the end user can usually understand it to the point that they sometimes 'send' me to the manual!)
But there are WAY to many variables when it comes to PBX programming. It starts with the release! x.y.2 does something so obscure (versus x.y.1)that it takes a while for the word to get spread through the manufacturer's tech support! Oh, and it changes 2 other 'little' items and does away with something that requires changing 7 other programs!
You NEED the schools! Some of the resale outfits provide training if you buy a current system. PM me for my favorite.

Fred, I was gonna mention you, but your website doesn't mention training. Sorry, LightningHorse, didn't mean to give away any secrets, but sometimes you have to spell the answer in capital letters...

I just kinda hesitate to mention companies here. It's kinda like free advertising!

Check bit signalling in Maint. I've seen several cases where ATT sends 1s instead of 0s when the circuit is idle.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
