Hi! I'm new, and new to Mitel. Please bear with me, and don't hit your forehead too hard when reading this...

I'm getting an alarm on the console of the SX200 ML who's upkeep I've been put in charge of.

In maintenance, show alarms all shows this under PCM Channel Alarms Display:

BAY: # Devs # Unavail Percent Alarm
Bay# 3 │ 32 │ 32 │ 100% │ Major

Minr Major Critical
0% │ 20% │ 0 │

Which would be pretty bad... If we had a 3rd bay.
The system only has 2 Bays, the main + one peripheral bay. How do I tell the system it only has bays 1 & 2?

Bay 1 connects to bay 2 via a BCC II / fibre connection. 2nd fibre port has no connection (as it should be).

Thanks in advance,

Tod.

You need to change the thresholds for bays and system in maintenance.

John,

Thanks!
Deleted step by step that shouldn't appear in this area, as Johnp pointed out. Acceptable
would be something like 'I changed alarm levels to 100% in the offending bay(s)'. Remember that we have folks here that could inadvertently hose their system trying to correct something. (Or sabotage a system for whatever reason) Please reread the posting rules. Or PM me or any other MOD for clarification.

Thanks!

Tod.

When looking at system values, note the level causing the alarm and bump up the values enough to cover but not disable alarms.

Please, one other thing. If you would in the future not post exact procedures rather just a more general statment saying I set the levels for minor and major to 0%

There are people on this board who make a living off their ability to install, program and maintain these systems. To protect our interests we ask very little from the members here and this is one of those things.

Thanks in advance for your efforts.

John,

Sorry about that. I will generalize more in the future. I've had that sort of procedural documentation beaten into me, but I completely see your point.

100 100 0. Gotcha, thanks again. I'm still wondering though, this doesn't actually tell the system there is no 3rd bay, it just says to ignore bay 3 alarms, correct?

JWRacedog,

Negative on the PRI.
I have the following in bay 1:

LS/GS TRUNK CARD
DIGITAL LINE CARD
ONS LINE CARD
ONS LINE CARD

and the following in bay 2:

ONS LINE CARD
ONS LINE CARD
ONS LINE CARD
ONS LINE CARD
ONS LINE CARD
ONS LINE CARD

No bay 3, of course.

This is a small hotel, less than 100 rooms, one of 2 owned by the same people. They didn't see any need to get rid of the POTS lines.

Thanks both!

Correct just hidden. You will find that phantom hardware can be useful swapping sets around, or if a number is needed to do something out of the ordinary.

John,

Thanks again.

Follow-up:

I forgot to set the system thresholds. Went back, did that, and all is right with the alarms. Now to tackle nastier issues...

Have a day!
Tod.
