No, I would leave it enabled. Just trying to figure out what causes #5 because it sounds like you are getting to the Telco and then no digits are transmitted. What are you hearing? Is it a tone generated by the Mitel after a short pause? How long between the 9 and the dialing of digits? Plus, you should not need a pause between the 9 and the number dialed to make a call.

Ahh, I made a discovery that is probably stupid-simple to you kind folks. The business center handset (same pair/port) cant get out either. Same symptom: dial 9, get a dial tone, start dialing a local number and I hear BEEP BEEP BEEP. So I have led me, and all you well-meaning folk, astray. This is not a dial timing problem.

I'm not sure how it all happened because I recall at one pt using the handset to dial an outside number and it working. Maybe it was a dream. Maybe it was some other pair for some other phone project at this hotel. So sorry, I realize I have wasted time & resources.

Okay, now I need to figure out how to permit this ONS line get an outside line. I noticed the handsets in the hotel office were COS 2 and they can get outside lines so I set the business center port to COS 2. But that didn't seem to change anything. The office handsets are digital, if that matters. The business center handset still can't get outside.

My apologies again.

You may need to set the restriction for the line at the console. Function, Guest Room Key, enter ext #, Press O/G restriction until LOC or LD shows up in the status line. Probably says INT now.

COR is the thing to change. But you run the risk of someone calling a 976 number from your business center.

Surely 900 and 976 are blocked completely for ALL extensions. COR IS probably where the problem is. The reason '9' doesn't stop calls is probably because of 911 being allowed throughout the facility, no matter what other restrictions are in place. (Something about deep pockets, lawyers, heart attacks, etc smile )

The console was set to INT for that extn. It is now set to LD. Thank you sooo much. Simple.

The hotel has a great long dist rate, so an occasional long dist call or LD fax isn't an issue. The business center has a magnetic card key door lock so if someone were to abuse the phone then we can track the call(s) to the particular magnetic room key. FYI: The door lock proper has a transaction log that includes every key swipe. A handheld computer reads the log from the lock via a smart card-like serial interface.

Thanks again everyone! Your help & ideas are appreciated.

Sounds like VingCard on the doorlock if you use a computer to interrogate.

Yeah, we should've mentioned setting restrictions from the console... doh
