We just integrated two new HX5000's into our exisiting Inter-tel CPS. We are having issues sending and receiving faxes. The problem is intermittent and we are getting a lot of Clock Slips in our T1 Diagnostics. I'm not sure if this is related or not. We have the nodes networked together via IP and that is when we have the most issues. When we put the T1 connection first it seems to work fine. Any help would be appreciated!

TADA! You've answered your own question. If you search FAX problems on this site, you'll find that VOIP (what you are really doing) and FAX DO NOT get along. Do one of 2 things, send fax's via T1, or pull your hair out. VOIP just isn't 'there' yet.

The problem with using the T1 is that I do not have enough bandwidth to support all users. The number of simultaneous phone calls supported goes down dramatically. I was assured by my installer that this networking would not be an issue. Do you think it may have something to do with the Line Build Out Value?

First and foremost, you need to get the slips taken care of. There is no reason to put up with slips, or any other timing issues on T1's. That technology is ....... 50 years old and problems with T1's have reasons. Find out what and why, get it fixed and then see how things work.

The default settings for fax transmission on the Axxess CPS are different than the HX5000.
The Axxess is G.711 Mu-Law and the HX5000 is T.38. T.38 is the preferred standard, but is not supported by the Axxess system. You could try changing the HX to G.711, but it’s a crap shoot.

I had it backwards. The fax works better on IP then the T1. I'm addressing the slips now but I'm not sure what could be causing these. Nothing has changed on the carrier side.

T1 clocking is critical for proper operation.
