Is there a way to extend the DHCP lease on an IP console? Or is it best to set it as static? I have one that keeps re-setting itself.

I think it's recommended to be set static

Tech manual and software instructions for IP console recommend static.

Thanks. I set it for static today and installed a sub-4150 for back-up, so we'll see. I appreciate the responses. Maybe you could tell me where you found the documentation on that. I couldn't.

Guess I should have asked which IP console? The 5550 by chance?

@johnp
I assumed and you know what that means... Still, they recommend anything besides the standard IP phones be given a static IP address as "best practice".

Update: The console is still re-setting itself. I have been advised to put a switch in between the MX controller and the console. Why would that make a difference?
