Can you setup a phone or two at a remote location just using your firewall?

Topic: Mitel CS5200 w/ Mitel 5340 IP Internet Ports?

I added the ports and routed it to the phone system and programed the phone. The phone connects to the phone system but... when I call someone's ext. It will work but with no voice on both sides.

Sorry I Forgot to add that the reason I can’t use a VPN is that there VPN requires Software loaded on the device.

You may be able to get one to work, but more than that likely won't. The phone at the far end would probably need to reside in a dmz, or have all the necessary ports forwarded to it. If you have the signaling ports working, the voice traffic is rtp in the 50000 range. You could verify connection using maintenance ip telephone all. There you should see the outside address of the remote phone.

You best bet would be to use a teleworker server or hardware vpn with the correct subnets routing through it IMHO.

I'll try the DMZ, which is a good idea. This is just for temp until we get the MPLS up and running.

Thanks for the input

Gotcha, if the remote has a couple of external ip's then a couple should work.

No go on the DMZ. I just don’t think I have all the ports open. I get the same thing no voice.

I see it in the connections using ports

UDP 20001
UDP 20001
TCP 6802
