I have a customer that has this PBX and has 11 telephone lines but had 5 lines used for fax and modem. But now is needing to convert the lines over to voice in her PBX. She can not access them on her phones. What do I need to do to get the other lines on the phones.

Hi Irvin
welcome to the forum
you need to add the lines to the switch , then program them in .
it will need to be programmed with a terminal and you really need to be versed in the system as several programs are involved .
she would be best served calling a phone vendor familiar with the onyx 111 to handle this

Hello Skip,
Thanks for your reply and info. I figured the lines would have to be programed in the system after connecting them to the m66 punchdown block.
I would really like to learn more about the programming of the additonal lines. Where would I go to get more information if I can not get it here?

the onyx was a dealer only item . there are passwords involved that can't be shared here and your dead in the water without them .
all programing is through a terminal and where you to connect the password prompt would stop you cold.
its a fairly complex system that techs where sent to school to learn ..

Sounds like this old system just needs to retire soon. Any ideas on an easy to manage, cost effective switch?
I have a few general questions.
Do the fax/modem lines go through the Onyx PBX and they are just programed as fax in the pbx on certain extensions or should they just run direct. The reason I asked is because she needed a fax line moved and I just ran it direct and not through the PBX. Also she moved some extensions to another floor so i just unplugged the extensions from the punchdown block and plugged in the new feeds to where the old ones were is all this ok?
Thanks in advance!

Sounds like this old system just needs to retire soon. just because you cant service it 100%, doesn't mean it needs to be replaced fax lines aren't going through the Onyx , sounds like you successfully moved the stations. maintain what you can and hire someone to do whats beyond your skill set its what we all do (hire the right guy and he might even train you )
