a potential customer wants to do the following with his phone system:

have an automated attendant
1 for sales
2 for service
3 for accounts
.......yada yada yada

then when a caller hits 1(or 2 or 3...), it will ring an ACD group ( i guess) that will only ring phones that are 'logged in'.

If no-one is logged in, callers get sent to a mailbox for each respective department.

he has 10 lines, and 9 phones.

ACD was my first thought, but I am not too familiar with Norstar Flash ACD and I am not sure if it could handle this.

a Mitel sx200 might work, but cost is a factor.

i also thought about setting up dummy extns with line appearances of this dummy extn on certain sets. but he want the ability to log in/out

this seems kind of strange, but it's what he is asking for...

any thoughts?

You might go into the Comdial area and get ahold of Jwooten. He has put in quite a few DX-80's---we have put in just a few. I think the price would be right even with the 8-port Hard Drive VM. The DX-80 has an extensive UCD program that might do exactly what you want---with the VM and the KeyVoice trans.txt file being programmed the right way. See what he thinks.

This would be a typical setup for a small call center. ACD is built into some key systems & is a costly addition on others. Reports or MIS can be an additional cost.

Vodavi also has a good acd/ucd package. Acd is x-tra but ucd comes standard. You can sign into any group up to 16 groups. Unanswered calls can be forwarded to another group or extension.

There are few telco systems on the market that support ACD/UCD without some type of add-on. The DX-80 will. The new 150hr 4 port harddrive is expandable to 8 ports will only enhance your service. All phones have a headset jack using 1/8 in mini plugs. No more high dollar headset/control boxes. You can "service observe" your agents and record the conversations for later playback as a training tool. Sorry if this sounds like a commercial guys.

I have to put the plug in for Telrad.
The S60 (28x32)or Unit`e (128) has a built in 6 user ACD included. Kind of a teaser package, add the Emagen voicemail now you have 50 recorded announcers and unlimited mailboxes. And it is priced right. Want to go to full ACD, change out the generic memory cartridge and a ACD memory cartridge for a Grand more.

The DX80 will do all that nicely and at a good price, especially if he can drop 2 phone lines and get the 816 package.
