G'day from Down Under! I have installed a few Norstar MICS/CICS systems but have not installed Voice Messaging. I have aquired a Norstar 2 port VMU I would like to set-up on my test bench but do not have install instructions. I have the VMU System Admin Manual but nothing to explain hardware install. I'm guessing it connects to any spare station port, but what next?? Any help would be appreciated Mick AUSTRALIA

Yes,it connects to an open station port, would be best if it was last one in system. If you do not know the ext number of this port, hook up a set on it first and do a "feature * 0"(zero),press intercom and that will give you your station Number. You will need it when programming sets. You can also wait until system has completely loaded and do a "feature 985" and that will tell you the voice mail DN.

Thanks for the tip. The unit has a RS232 port. Can I connect to it with a terminal program? Is there any written documentation available re installation of this unit? Thanks Mick

Are you working with a Startalk mini or a Flash?

Good question. In Australia this device is marketed as "Commander NT Voice Mail Unit" Nortel part no is NT5B06AQ. I know NT5B06 narrows it down to a Mini or Flash but I can't find an equivalent part no in the U.S. to help identify it.
The unit has 2 RJ input sockets labeled 2 & 4. It includes an optional expansion board (Part NTAB2385 with board ID NT5B0647/NT5B0608) under the bottom cover which I guess expands the unit to 4 ports.
What have I got?? Thanks Mick

You have a Flash 4.The unit has 4 ports for access(will require 2 station ports)and 48 mailboxes.i will check and see if I have any extra documentation.
