A customer called me about moving a norstar system w/9 phones. They refer to it as a 1998 Norstar Compact ICS System. Is this system like a 308 or 616 Mederitian system? If I have it down for about 5 days; will it hold the translation's that long?

Yes It is along the lines of a 308 and 616 somewhat. The Cics can have a max of 8 trunks. 2 line cards 4 trunks on one 4 on the other. Most Cics's have the availability of 16 stations. Depending on software. Chances are the system you speak of is 16 stations because the restricted software will only give you eight stations. Next to the trunk card slots is a smaller slot which is for a station expansion card which will expand the stations to 24. As for the memory I personally never leave the systems down that long. You would be rolling the dice. What you could do is if you have access to a rad whether internal or external you could back up the system programming using the backup tool on the remote tools software. You can get the latest version of that on Nortels website. I think its version 10.0. That way if the system defaults you just have to upload the backup file from your pc of the original programming. If you don't have that before you power it down go through the programming and write it down. Hope that helps.

I have a wiring chart on the cics I could email you if you need .
getting into programming is the same as all norstars but the menus are similar to the mics 3.0 and above, not the 308/616
it starts with terminals and sets

Thanks for all reply's to my question. It turn out to be a 616 picking up 4 lines; no voice mail. I removed the system and brought it to my office and power it back up and lucky me!! the translation is still there. I will leave it power up untill I install it at new location.

Thanks
Doug
