I have a MCIS 4 and was curious how our help phone system works.
I work in a retail environment with 7 help phones for our customers so that when one is picked up it rings our customer service desk and all service phones on the floor.
1) How does it work?!
In order to add additional phones to the help pickup group i've been copying the phones preferences over along w/ any restrictions that are on the phone that is copied.
I also have it somehow linked to Ext 254 which i believe is a appear and ring to the ext 326 (the desk).
Basically you pick it up it rings 254 and rings 326 (+selected c3060's)
When i rename 254 to its dept, and pickup a help phone it says "sporting" instead of "help" (that i've changed back).

Sounds like a ringdown phone that is hooked to a CO port. Check station programming and the line that ring on those stations.
Good Luck!!
If all else fails, use a BFH.

See if the "hotline" parameter is configured in "Capabilities" for the sets that customers are calling from. ------------------ BCM Guy www.BCMguy.com Learn more about the Nortel Networks Business Communications Manager HERE !
