I'm working with a nortel RAD connected and working with our Modular ICS system. It works fine when I dial up the main number inward voice line and have the receptionist dial the "Feature 9*0" sequence.
I have the nortel utils 10.0 software, however it doesn't want to cooperate when I attempt to connect directly to the RAD using the rs232 interface. I'm using a standard rs232 cable, and am wondering if I need to use a breakout box. I dont have the documentation in front of me, and was wondering if anyone knew off the top of their head.
(Sorry, I'm a newbie...just wanting to back up the system)
Thanks, Matt

Hi seattle_matt,
A straight serial cable is correct. Verify your baud rate settings. And, make sure to select "direct connection" for the connect type in NRU.
Good Luck, and welcome to the board!

Thanks BCM Guy!
Just to get an expert opinion, is this correct? 1200 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit , no parity

If you haven't changed it in the FastRAD configuration, the default will be 9600. You can configure the FastRAD to accept local connections on the serial port at 19,200.

ah ok good to know! I had it at 19200 but it wouldn't acknowledge it. I even tried connecting with a terminal client, still nothing.
Sounds like my cable may be bad... I'll try another tomorrow and keep you posted.
Thanks again!
