We just hired a new receptionist. When someone pushes 0, the phone will ring at her desk, and if she doesn't answer, it will go to the GD mailbox. However, she doesn't have a separate mailbox set up for herself.
My question is, if I don't want to set up a second mailbox specifically for her, can we forward messages internally to the GD mailbox. I think (although I'm not 100% sure) that the GD mailbox is set up as Mailbox 223, but if I try to forward a message to that mailbox, it say's "Mailbox not initialized).

The General Delivery Mailbox comes default as 100. You may have the GD appear on extension 223. Try forwarding to MB 100.

Thank you. It worked. Can I now just re-record the name to have it say "her name" instead of General Delivery Mailbox. Can I change the GD mailbox to say Mailbox 225, instead of the default of 100??

You can record her name, if you'd like, and no the general delivery mailbox number cannot be changed. However, you could build another mailbox as 225 and consider it a general delivery but the system will not consider it that way, it will treat it as another user mailbox.

Thanks roldan,
I did add a seperate mailbox for her, however, the phone will not display the "message waiting" if a message is left in her mailbox, only if there are messages in the GD mailbox.

You can find M7001 for ten or fifteen dollars. Put it in as a courtesy phone with whatever toll restriction you want and use the MW on that for the GD mailbox and she has a real mailbox for herself.
I always suggest that to get around the MB 100 issue.

What voicemail do you have? the Call Pilots have a place to put in an alternate extension for a mailbox, so if a message is left in her mailbox the Call Pilot would call her extension to let her know that there is a meesage in her mailbox.
