Hi.
I have a client who tells me he is unable to reach me via my 1800 number. However, when I try calling the 1800 myself from home, cell phone, friend house, it seem to work fine. Also no other client has complained about the 1800 number not working.
Is it possible that him local phone company may be having problems talking to my phone company? Can 2 different phone companies have trouble talking to each other in a particular area? I think he might be in the New Jersey area calling the Florida area.
He said he is able to call other 1800 besides mine just fine and I’m able to call my own 1800 without any problems. So I’m not sure what the problem could be. Anyone ever hear of anything like this?
Thanks.

The trouble is probably on his side. He (or you) need to open a trouble ticket with HIS provider and have it sent to translations or their 800/long dist. dept. His provider "should" be able to look in the switch and see where the call is failing. Not all cust serv reps will know what to do with a ticket like that, especially if you get a rookie. So you may be fighting a slightly uphill battle. Just let them know what number YOUR customer is trying to call, and weather they are getting a recording, ring and no answer, or whatever.

Are you getting other calls from New Jersey?
Not all "800" numbers are nation-wide. There are different "tiers" of service.
KLD.

KLD is correct, not all providers can access all 800 numbers. If their is no service agreemenet with the carriers then the calls will fail. I would make a call from the Demarc, if it fails, call your local carrier and have them verify translations and routing, they will be able to tell you if the call can be made.
I Swear I did not touch anything
