You have to base your cordless decisions on the application.
The T7406 is nice because it gives you the same buttons/features as your Nortel desk set and it appears to be fairly durable. The disadvantage is that it is still only 900 Mhz so the range is only around 300' from the antenna. Works great for roaming around an office or small work area/docks (you can remote mount the antenna base in a good coverage area, it has a separate charging stand).
The Engenuis with an ATA gives you excellent range with the base and can give you more with the optionable external antenna. If you are going to use/sell this unit, just make sure you have a good source for service. There have been a few issues with this phone (still worth using in my opinion) but not something you want to purchase from a none servicing dealer. Also, always purchase the tough case holster, it will protect and save this phone.

Cordless customer has a supermarket, so I guess the Engenuis is the way to go. TP you said make sure good source for service, doesn't sound like the E has a good track record. What type of issues are we talking about.

we sell engenius rather often and have had great success with them. One of our "success stories" is "we have a customer that can take it outside and across the street to applebees to have lunch and still take calls" seriously.

We tried to test the engenius phones in a hospital and set off just about every alarm in the place. Obviously they get their extended range through higher transmit power. My question is that if they are that powerful to set off cell phone detectors in the cardiac unit three floors away, do you really want one of these things next to your head?
I agree that they have a pretty impressive range and nice add-on equipment to help with gray areas of coverage, but it seems like they have gotten so expensive now that they have gotten more popular.

Thornhil, if you have access to the "installers forum" do a search for "Engenius" and you will find what some of the other techs have said.
Some of the issues were; out of calibration (unit stops communicating with the base for some strange reason) and displays go dead on them. In their defence, I understand they had different versions/generations of them and maybe the problems have been rectified.
I sold/installed many of them, but stopped because it seemed like their distribution isn't controlled anymore. They are getting readily available now and no longer an exclusive sale item. They still have their niche though for some jobs (like yours).
Also, since you are using a CICS, you can take avantage of the built in ATA.
Ed, I think having these things next to your head is what their technology is based on - use any metal that may be around to boost the signal :toothy:

You might also want to take a look at Spectralink. They are expensive, but they seem to work well. We installed them at several banks. Also noticed they use them at Lowes.
