If you want to learn how to administrate your phone system Bug, maybe you should contact a local phone company to come out and provide some training for you. That way if you get in over your head, you have an on hands tech, that knows your location, system and setup. I promote the Tech talk on this board as much as anyone, but don't confuse it for a training location. Toner does have a point there a alot of do-it-yourselfers in AB, and if you don't know what you are doing, we as Techs spend more time fixing the troubles than it would have to installed it ourself. I would bet with a couple of hours with a tech and some documentation, you would find your phone system very easy to administrate. But I will repeat myself, don't confuse administrating your system with Installation.
Over and OUT!!

Also, Bunny, You either type really fast, or you have alot of time on your hands. Not that either are bad, I just know it takes me 3 minutes to type this crap out. Now, terminate an anphenol or Bix and I will personally race anyone for anything.

If you can call into your system at night and have a greeting answer that does not come from an answering machine or phone company voice mail, you have a voice mail and included in all of them is an auto attendant.

Bunnie dont forget about the CICS It might not have a voice mail.

Bob: The first post said he had a MICS 4.0 so I don't understand about not forgetting the CICS might not have a voice mail. Please remember it is the OLD hippity hoping Bunnie not the road runner you young whipper snappers emulate.

No, no, no, I will not do a speed test with anyone, I don't need any more embarrasement in my life. I've always been more of a figure it out person than a fast cable puller. And ladders shake in fear when I walk straight towards them, I have to sneak up from the side.

I very much agree that it woul be smart to hire a tech to teach him what he does not know. You can get pretty proficient reading a book and playing, but there is still stuff to be explained by a tech and getting there even 70% of the way without help is pretty good.

Not to fear Bob, I've missed details a few times and at least with egg on your face you won't go hungry.

My 2 cents, the version you gave shows as an MICS 5.0 CDA XC. To see if you have a NORTEL voice mail attached to this system you should be able to just dial Feature 985 and this will give you an extension of the main number for vmail. The only other way I know is like some suggested above is to call in at night and see what happens on an unanswered call. Although if that goes to mail it could be provided by your TELCO and not your system.
