Sentrex, let me quote something you said a little while ago: just my self i have always been self taught,i'm not certified on bcm or can't afford to pay for certification,i have installed tones of bcm on networks with unified messaging, i also install the avaya ip office systems. i find working in a lab with these systems and this forum and people i know in the trade works better than sitting in a room in front of nortel dude but thats just me. if you can afford to send techs on a c`ertification course by all means it will benefit them.but i'm sure with practice and a couple of installs they will get to the same point installing the system for your client. I think that if you've installed "tons of bcms" as you say maybe you should consider getting properly trained. Your knowledge seems to have some major gaps - not that I'm saying you should know the answer to this question, but you don't exactly come across as a reputable dealer. I do like seeing fellow "canucks" on this board but I don't think I'll be answering many more of your questions.

Well sorry if i'm not as perfect as you are.like the post you are refering to it clearly says that i'm not certified.my main line of products is avaya ip office and definity products which i do have the paperwork to prove it. A great teacher once told me there is no stupid questions but only stupid answers. I always understood that this forum was here to help not to critisize. I hope you don't treat your customers the same way when they ask you a dumb question. As for answering other of my questions i will take the answers at face value. Maybe you should start your own perfect tech forum,i'd like to see how many there are on this planet,i know here in Ottawa ther isn't any

I apologize for sounding critical. I don't think I did a very good job of making my point. Let me try this again...
I'm sure you are very bright have an ability to learn on your own. However, it concerns me that I might be helping someone compete against a legitimate Nortel dealer (like us) who pays a steep price to provide the customer with proper warranty channels and true Nortel tech support (for questions just like yours). Would you go out of your way to help a competitor troubleshoot problems on a system that he lowballed you on?
I don't think you're stupid and I don't think the WAV file thing was a dumb question. I only wanted to encourage you to pursue a legitimate dealership, which shouldn't be a problem if you sell alot of product. You're right, this forum is here to help and I'm sure you'll continue to receive input on your questions from the many knowledgeable members on the board.

Hi Toner. We are a legitimate Nortel Dealer, but the 2 techs that we sent to get certified both passed away 2 months apart of each other. Our company can't afford to certify all techs,so we cross train each other just like i am certified in Avaya products. I did say i did tons of bcm(figure of speach) All the times that i programed flash's,Nam's and call pilots i always did the recording with the client besides me. Using wav files on a call pilot was the first time that i used that feature,i was just stumped that you had different settings to ajust. On the ip office it takes any type of wav files and no other settings are required. about helping a competitor here in Ottawa it is a small community of interconnec companies,i pretty much know at least 1 tech in all the competitors and yes we do call each other from time to time,i don't do sales so if a competitor calls me on a job that i lost then that was our sales team's fault for not getting the sale. 6 Months ago a small company in Quebec called me on a saturday he had a mics that died,i had a spare so we lent it to him. The bottom line is i just wanted to tell you that i'm not a tech with 3 months experience in the field i actually was a telephone lineman in 1986 in the army,i've to to wainwright many times and ive been working from 3x8 to bcm today. I do feel your frustration when i see a post like how to change time and date or something so basic like that, i hope in the future we can get along,if not then feel free to ignore me,but if you are ever in Ottawa i would go out of my way to help or accomodate you in anyway i can Regards Alain Jette

Now why can't the sunnis and the sheittes kiss and make up like that? Just don't get so overwhelmed that you feel obliged to swap wives to finalize this. (grin)

Which sucks, because I have a customer who paid a lot of money for a professional voice artist to record their greeting and the best they cold do was hold the receiver up to the PC speaker and play the .wav file. So if anyone know of a way to do this, please post a solution!!!!
Punch down all your damn pairs!..........(please).
