Recently my office was moved but our very old (circa 1990) Meridian PBX (release 17 software) was left a few buildings away. The terminal was also left behind as cost was a factor in moving it. Instead of running back & forth between my office and the PBX terminal I planned on using Procomm but have not had any luck in connecting via modem. I was told that Procomm was the software used by SBC (our contracted repair techs).
I have enough knowledge to correct everyday problems using the terminal but SBC will not give me assistance in connecting remotely.
I'm using the terminal ID VT-100, 1200 baud, 7 bits even ASCII only emulation, I'm able to make a connection but nothing appears on the terminal screen. It remains blank. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks in advance

There are too many variables. By trying to connect with the wrong parameters you could have disabled the modem port. You need to have an SBC/ATT tech or other Nortel contractor check your port status and modem setup. Good Luck.

Pay for some onsite support and call it cheap. You could spend days on this and never get it working.

Many times a little push in the right direction will take care of a defined problem, but I wouldn't waste time on this when you can get it working and know all the settings for the future.

Fishing was right on the money, pay for on-site help.

Try using Port speed 115200 or 9600 and use 8 none and 1. I connect to 3 different switches from Opt. 11,61,and 81 and we use those settings. Hope this was helpful.

I have seen it happen many times, that even though you are set up for auto baud sensing, you still have to match exactly or it will not display anything for you. I had one that I could connect to everytime, but it displayed nothing. I finally pushed it down to 1200 and it worked just fine. Try them all.

There is a MIS you maybe able to set in your Modem Properties . I would follow RBF'S recommendation to hire a Tech to set/check the port parameters and test/verify you can remote access via your PC . Once he/she does that your remote access problems are solved . smile
