Hey you guys - I was to doing an upgrade on an MICS. I got the key codes for v5.0 and wanted to do an upgrade to v7.0. I did the software upgrade before entering in the PRI enabler key codes. I guess the system ID changes when you go to new software, am I screwed? (I am at least for the moment) Anyone know what my options are?

I think you'll need to have the Nortel KRS guys make the change. That's what I've done in the past. They will generate a new keycode for you.
Good Luck!

So how do I go about getting something like this started? Fees involved? My boss is ready to kick my butt.

I am NOT positive about this, but were you not supposed to do an upgrade to 6.1 before 7.0?
That could be the problem, someone will be more positive than I am yea or nea.
You tell your boss that if he kicks your butt because he was not smart enough to be sure you had every scrap of training you needed to do this, I will come there and show him the other end of that.

You will need a new keycode.
The lesson to be learned here is with Norstar always upgrade in order:
voice mail Phone hardware phone keycodes phone software
Yes bunny you are correct. In order to keep your configuration when going to 7.0 you must put 6.1 in 1st. Otherwise if it comes up at all it will default.

KRS is the "Keycode Retrieval System". You can reach them buy opening a case with Nortel (800-4-NORTEL). If you are an authorized dealer, this is not a big deal and will cost you nothing. If you are not an authorized dealer, you may need to get one involved. I could regenerate the keycode for you, but then I could be on the hook if you don't REALLY own the hardware with the original system ID.
I wish I could help!

On second thought, if you want me to try, shoot me an email with both of the system IDs and your OFFICE phone number. If I can validate enough information, we can get this done.

Marty, thanks a ton for your help. I'm being FLAT OUT HONEST and I'm in a HUGE bind. I'll get you any info that you want!!! It's going to take me some time to get the info because being a tech, I don't have access to the Internet on the road.
