Do Nortel's have any type of software that would allow for programming or is it required to be done from the phone? We are planning on replacing the switch at year end, but are in need of a quick fix for an exisiting problem. Would be much easier to follow if I could see it on a screen since I am not familar with Nortel. Thanks, Dan

Really depends on which Norstar and which software...
Norstar Remote Utilities, but if you're unfamiliar with phone set programming the NRU will be like trying to read chinese.

What is the existing problem, that would be a good place to start?
Programming over the phone is easy if you have a manual and some idea of what you are trying to do.

If he is asking for MAT then that stands for Meridian Administration Tool. This is for the Option series PBXs. Can't program them through phones. There were also platforms called Stadata and Switchview.
The only aftermarket Option series admin software that I am aware of is MerAssistant. Better know what you are doing if you start playing with these systems.

Isn't MAT the name of the software for programming NEC stuff? Maybe that's what he means...
To answer the question though - the Nortel BCM systems can be programmed via PC. Any software required comes with the system.

Thanks, Yes I use NEC terminalogy as that is what I am used to. The only problem we are having that I cannot figure out is when a user at another site calls one particular extension (630), it rings various different phones. It will ring 630 one time then go to another extension. The phone set programming is not bad, just find it easier to follow on a screen.

Check for answer DN on the extensions that ring, also is 630 a Hunt group DN or a Extension DN?
Good Luck!!
If all else fails, use a BFH.

according to this system there are no hunt groups programmed. 630 is an Extension When this event happens, its one of the other offices calling and the display says Line154. Will take a look at the other offices again to see if I have missed something.
