Whoa, you have a choice in software for lines to be voip on an 824? A VOIP line should be identical to a copper CO line, although sometimes the voips have a problem with disconnect supervision.

There never were any voip settings in an 824 in any release of software.

How do they "show" they are voip?

What problem are you having if any?

As a former Iowainian I would be pleased to help you, but more information is needed.

Perhaps someone just put the name in as VoIP? That is not an option on a 824.

Norstar doesn't have a VoIP option. Could have been someone named the line as 'VoIP'. Or, changed the settings in the line-type. (as nfcphoneman stated).

The only thing they could have done, for sure, on an 824 would be to change the line name to voip.

If these are line 1, 2, 3 and 4, assign them to a phone. Press line one, if you see VOIP in the display, that is nothing more than the name.

It could just as easily say John 1 or Bunnie1 or Fox 1, anything you can spell with letters and numbers.

Voip lines off Sipura, Cisco, Linksys, etc. boxes could have been put in as out calling dial tones where you pay a fixed amount no matter how much you call. They could have named the lines VOIP so you knew you were calling out on the "free" line.

If you go into "names" and under that "lines" you will probably see VOIP.

Neither the 8x24, nor the CICS/MICS have a configuration setting of VOIP.

Take a look and confirm please.

And the software release is: ???? Found on the side of the thin software card (wallet size) that you will NOT take out and look at while the system has power.

Are these lines not working? Are you changing them from what voip provider to what provider?

Try to make the situation feature rich and give us some clues.
