Hello everyone,

I have a SunRocket VOIP phone service of which plugs into a gizmo and then into my phone and it has been working great. There are some features that aren't implemented of which I will need additional hardware for. Technically they say that SunRocket is capable of going into your entire phone system if need be, but I only have it going from the gizmo straight into one phone.

I want a system where the Sunrocket plugs into "it" and ultimately "it" has its own routing features. For example, it will automatically pick up and go on with a recording "Thank you for calling the Jones', for Jenny press 1, for Jerald press 2, for John press 3" of which if someone presses 1, then Jenny's phone in her room will ring, or it will reroute to her cell phone.

I'm not very familiar with phone systems, but I do know that this sort of equipment does exist, whether it is end-user consumer grade or not, I think I could figure it out, I just sort of need a push in the right direction. Can anyone point me in the right direction on what would be the best route for something like this?

Feel free to ask questions to get a better understanding of my situation as I would really like a solution. Thanks!

KuJax,
Yes, please complete your profile if you are going to continue posting.

The only thing I know of that is consumer priced is www.gotVmail.com they can do all that from your existing line for 10 bucks a month. At 120 bucks a year, if you only need to do one line, it would take like 20 years before you spent what a commercial system would cost to accomplish the same thing. 10 years if you want to use 2 lines.
There might be some other residential product, but I'm not aware of it. Not sure what your doing but I'm thinking a commercial product (Phone system and voicemail) would be cost prohibitive.
Welcome to the board.

Phil and Mark, thanks for the replies. I have updated my profile.

Mark, I'll look into that. Someone recommended a linux box that runs Asterisk as a possible solution, athough it is a lot more time consuming to setup, but is also the most cost effective and most control.

KuJax,
You might want to poke around in the VoIP forum or the Computer network forum, there are guys there that know asterick and do the softphone thing. Most of these forums are telephone guys doing commercial phone systems and voicemail.
Just be up front and let the board know what your doing, nobody wants to give up their trade secrets, especially not for free! If someone thinks they want to help they can email you or send a PM if your information is available to them.
