Go to https://www.konexx.com/dwi_dual.htm and see if the unit looks like a DWI.
I used these on my Norstar system at home and still have it somewhere. I could get calls out on an analog device while using an M7410 cordless phone.
If I remember right, I could dial out on the analog port but it did not have an extension number to dial into the analog device.
I believe they are trying to dial out on their PC using installed software to make calls while having their digital Norstar available for incoming calls. Devices are similar except the are grey and integrate to pc via serial port, not modem port

Wow...I learned something new too Can someone answer my riddle about SMDR? One for system or one per phone?

Your original assessment is correct. But, it doesn't have to connect to a printer (although it can), it can connect to a PC running Call Accounting software. ...one per system.
