I have a customer with a MICS version 6.1. They are having a problem with the handset volume on outside calls being VERY low. When they crank up the handset volume, they get static feedback of their own voice on the handset. We have replaced all cabling from the DEMARC to the switch and verified with the TELCO regarding line issues and testing to no avail. This is happening on all extensions so it is not a phone set issue. I am beginning to think KSU problem but am not sure.
Any body else run into this?

There are issues with volume on early versions of M series phones. You should be using rev 17 or higher with your version of software.

Sorry but I should have included the types of phone sets. They are all T7316e phones.

Have you been able to narrow it down to any particular line?

Have you tried a different line card?

Every call, or once in a while?

Is this on a T-1/PRI or copper dial tone card(s)? You said you replaced pairs but that could be on the supertrunk or POTS.

If on T-1/PRI have the LEC or CLEC jump on the circuit. Most likely they will not roll the card in the CO without significant time doing everything else.

If copper DTs, can you "borrow" a dial tone from another customer in the building who has a different provider and see if the problem is the same?

If copper DTs, do you have, can you borrow a dial tone simulator and put that on two dial tone ports to see if the problem is the same as real dial tones?

The lines are all copper POTS. No PRI/T1. They are the only tenant so no borrowing of lines is an option. We have had LEC test both remotely and onsite with us in attendance. It is on all lines and all phones so no issue of just one line port. Have not tried another card yet, but am trying to narrow down before doing so. My main concern is "is this possibly a line card or KSU issue?" and is it also possibly a LEC issue even though they have tested repeatedly. Dial tone and call volume seems to be fine at the DEMARC so it seems to be pointing to the MICS.
Any more thoughts would be helpful.
