mics fiber nam 4.1

ext 2035 seems to have 2 mailboxes - if I dial into the backdoor number, or in night mode, to ext 2035, the greeting reflects box 1 described below & my message gets recorded into box 1 described below

If I call into the receptionist and she transfers my call to VM ext 2035, the greeting reflects box 2 described below and my message gets recorded into the box 2 described below
=======================

Both box 1 & box 2 described below are dialed from ext 2035

Messages stored condition describe 2 different boxes [each has a different greeting, and I don't know how to acceess box 1. SYS coordinator Admin delete/add accesses box 2 only. It's driving me crazie that I cannot remove box 1

from 10020000 i deleted mailbox 2035, then added mailbox 2035 and assigned ext 2035.
This replaced the box 2 described above

The only way to access this mailbox [2] from ext 2035 is f981/other/log/20352121

The only way to access box 1 from ext 2035
f981/pw/2121 accesses Box 1

I hope this makes sense to someone out there. I would try to describe this phenomena better if I could think of a way.

Thanks,

Has it always done this, or just started?
Have you done a relocate using Relocate=YES recently??
Have you tried a power recyle on the NAM?

Here's what I suspect is happening...

You right, there are 2 mailboxes...

1st is mailbox 2035 with an unknown or no DN associated.

2nd is unknown MB with DN 2035 associated.

This is how things work on NAM, Flash, CP or all Nortsar voice mails and how your scenerio can happen.

On calls through the AA you are actually dialing a mailbox not an ext (in this case MB 2035). The NAM looks at mailbox 2035 and then routes the call to the DN associated (if there is one).

On live calls that are transferred and with voice mail access F981 it work opposite. NAM looks at the DN that is calling and then looks up the MB.

I've also seen this happen on a set relocation where only part of the relocation happens (the NAM didn't get the new port # from MICS). I just LOVE set relocation. A full reboot of NAM and MICS will cure it.

Powercycle Nam, & MICS, ...and see what happens?

I suppose important config should survive that.

Then after reboot, if I 983/xxxx/delete box 3025/add box 2035/assign to ext 2035 .....there will be only one box for 2035 that is accessable directly from F981/PW ? as opposed to F981/other/Log .....I hope

Whew!
Thanks for the tip-
sometimes just like Windows - *reboot*

Have you verified that you are at ext 2035 by using F*0 and hitting the Intercom button?

If you have a laptop that you can connect to your NAM, you should be able to see all mailboxes built in your system and what extensions if any they are associated with. But as Marv expressed, I've also seen strange things like this happen with set relocation.

Set relo causes these problems but like you said a lap top hooked to it will show the mailboxes and associated exts. but I have had nams that refuse to delete mailboxes and won't let you build new ones and not show up in the reports. When that happens the nly thing left to do is call nortel who normally askes for the database and then they fix it.

I see no mention of POWERING DOWN having been DONE.

Recently I also had a mailbox 2035 that was driving me crazy and it appeared that nothing would change.

I took the advice to POWER DOWN and voila! everything was fine. All other stations were perfect, but I spent two hours trying to fix 2035 and once I POWERED DOWN (and of course powered up) it cleared the 2035 problem.

Twice above it was mentioned to power down, did you do this? If not, just do it and see if it clears the problem.
