Some weeks back I posted about a block I'd seen that none of my usual bits would fit. While it looks like a 110, not a 110, BIX, nor Krone fit. I ran across another of these blocks the other day and saw "Northern Telecom" embossed on the top of the block. My partner happened to be in the area and he stopped by. He is Nortel certified and pulled out a bit that he got from Nortel. While it looks like a BIX, it has 2 open slots in the middle of it, and it fit the block perfectly. Unquestioningly this is a proprietary Nortel tool. My partner isn't sure if he has another of these bits, so I'm wondering if anyone has a source for such a bit?

In the meantime my only way to punch these blocks is to hillbilly it with a small screwdriver and push the wire into the block and hope for connection. Not my preferred way to go. The right tool is always the right way wink

TIA

You just described a normal Northern Telecom issued BIX tool.

Yep that's an original BIX tool and the only one I use. If you want to get one, it's now made by Nordx. Most of you guys south of the border are used to seeing BIX bits that fit multiple headed generic tools made by some else.

Thanks for the replies. I'll try a Nordx search, unless you have a better suggestion on a source.

Using anything other than the proper tool is crazy. The whole idea is to have the IDC termination. Use the correct tool.
Plastic BIX tool only good for around 10 terminations, buy the real Nordx tool.
