I have MICS system and I programmed this cordless T7406 to access lines from a pool by dialing a 9, because I could not program the 6 co lines I have to appear on the phone. My understanding only 5 co lines can be programmed on the phone with 1 intercom. It was fine for a week, but now the display reads * Phone Asleep * which should be ok in the Idle state. 1.) I can't pick up any lines via the pool access code of 9 -- (Programming checks out = ok)& No alarms displayed. 2.) Intercom calls ring the phone, but can't be answered. 3.) I can't access the intercom dial tone via the intercom button. 4.) The phone will not respond programming features. ..like... f*0...etc.. ** Does anyone know how to fix this problem or am I looking at a defective phone? tks...

On the side of the phone there is an option button. Open it till you see send SS code. Power down the 7406 base station and power back up, and press send SS code. Should say send OK. FYI Same as Sentrex says, the 7406 has a known issue of crapping out.
Two girls later and I'm back.....lol...been gone a while but see same faces still here. Lol

Check the DN in programming and see if handsfree is no. If so, make it yes. I had a similar trouble recently and that solved the problem.
The 7406 uses button mapping off the M7310 and is fickle about the location of the intercom

The T7406 can actually only house 3 lines when programmed with the unit attached. You can connect a m7310 and use line migration to locate the lines in a particular location. Please check the paperwork for button mapping.

You can do more than 3 lines. See this post. You don't need an intercom either if you don't want it. On this particular phone I have 4 lines, page button, and a voice call button.
