We still ,unfortunately, use pagers because of the crappy cell service in rural areas we cover. I have a Motorola Bravo that I have had for years that as be dropped, thrown and even stomped a time or two and still keeps ticking.

We are also still on the pager for emergency calls. The answering service we use has instructions to to call a "list" if they don't get a call back within about 20-30 minutes. We have revamped our after hours procedure where we used to just "forward" our calls to the service. They just page you for everything! So, now we use our voicemail system to "screen" the calls after hours with a prompt "explaining" what an emergency is, then the call is directed to our service...as you all know, static on a line is not an emergency...
