First off I am new to this forum so forgive me for any mistakes.
I am a Systems Admin for my company. Seeing as I know little to nothing about phone systems I was the perfect candidate for supporting the phone system. Over the last few months I have been able to figure out a lot of the basics about our system. But recently I have ran into a problem I haven't been able to take care of myself and our phone vendor hasn't answered calls or emails.
Here's the issue: We have a MICS 6.1 system. One of our extensions has been out of use (sitting in an empty cube since I have been at the company). Recently an employee was hired and was assigned this phone/ext. She can receive internal calls without a problem. She can also make outgoing calls with a problem. The only problem is she can't recieve outside calls directly to her phone. When you direct line from an outside phone, you hear to rings and a message says you have reached a non working number.
Let me know if you need more information (I'm sure you will). And don't be afraid to spell it out like I am an idiot because when it comes to phones... well you know.
Anyway thanks for any help you can provide. It is GREATLY appreciated

Thanks for your help. I was a few minutes away from asking how do I do that, but I figured it out. I'm glad I found this site. I have already found a lot of helpful material. And for someone who is just starting out on phone systems I need everything I can get.
Thanks

If the company is going to put you in charge of supporting the phone system. If your existing phone company is not responding I would find a new telephone company to maintains your phones. I would recommend you start a good relationship with them, as they are going to be the ones to bail you out if anything dies. Even asking them to come in and provide a couple hours of training, would probably be very beneficial for you. If you are accessing target line programming you are in the installer programming. Just be warned you can cause some problems from being in the installers access if you don't know what you are doing. Some companies try and save money and ask admin people like you to do everything a telephone technican is trained to do. Then when things don't work they want that telephone company to bail them out. This could possibly be the reason your existing telephone company has not called you back. If you maintain a good realationship with your phone company and explain to them you are just trying to be the system administrator of the phone system, they should understand and provide you with any assistance you may need.
Two girls later and I'm back.....lol...been gone a while but see same faces still here. Lol
