We just purchased a refurbished M7410. We have six lines in our office and want to use the six buttons on the handset for our six lines. However, buttons 08 and 09 on the base are intercom buttons. Is there any way to move an intercom button so that we can use buttons 08 and 09 for our lines 05 and 06? Feature *81 will let us move the lines around but not the intercom buttons. The manual says it can't be done. Is this true? Any help would be appreciated!

welcome to the best Nortel forum in the world.

What are you trying to do? And what is the system? Maybe there is a work around.

The phone is a Nortel M7410 cordless. The manual says that the six memory buttons on the handset are mapped to buttons 01, 02, 03, 07, 08, and 09 on the base. Buttons 01-06 on the base are our lines 1-6. Buttons 08 and 09 on the base are intercom buttons. We wanted to move lines 4, 5, and 6 to buttons 07, 08, and 09. We were able to move line 4 to button 07 using Feature *81 but it won't let us do that with buttons 08 and 09 because they are intercom buttons. We just wanted to know if there is a way to move the intercom buttons or change which buttons the handset is mapped to on the base. Either way, we just want the six buttons on the handset to coorespond to our six lines. This is our only cordless phone. The rest of our phones are Nortel M7310.

No you can't change the button map on the 7410 handset.

There are different ways to set up Norstar phones other than having all the lines appear on the set. By giving me the telephone system model and software version there may be a work around or you can just hire a pro who can offer you some suggestions.
