On site readings with my old T136 meter show that loop current is 33 mA, circuit loss is -4, circuit noise is <5, power influence is <65, ground current is 56 mA.
All of these are within acceptable levels, aren't they? I did change the programming for each line from 'meduim co' to 'short co'. What exactly is that changing? Adding some padding to the resistors I've already put in the circuit?
I changed the lsds card after all of the above. The line that was bad is one that has given me the most trouble on this site. We'll see what happens . . .
Thanks. Jim

33ma is kinda marginal. If the 330 ohm resistors are in line still, then you have a serious c.o. problem that they will never ever fix. And 52 volts on-hook is a LOT! Get some loop current limiters from Sandman and be done with the problem! Then you can take out those rsistors and the customer will be able to hear better! John C. (Not Garand)

I had what sounds like the same problem with a MICS 4.1XC. No consistency in problems. Very hard to troubleshoot. Eventually gave up and put in a new MICS. Haven't had a problem in about three months. Used the same LSDS cards and trunk mod that was in the problem system.

John C. - The customer has never complained about not hearing ok. 33 mA is at the low end of my meter's green/ok scale, and still in the green. And I thought 52 VDC was the 'normal' on-hook voltage. This system is only 2 blocks from the CO.
Jeff - I did try a completely different MICS cabinet about a year ago when I was in the thick of this mess. Still lost a card back then, so I changed back to my original cabinet.
It's been a couple of weeks with nothing new to report. Fingers crossed.

It really sounds like high ringing voltage is blowing the "fuses" on the cards.

Actually, when this problem happens, an incoming call will cause the Norstar phone to ring. Answer it and nothing is there. Callers say they get ring, then nothing. When the Norstar user picks up the phone, they do not hear any dial tone.

My humble recommendation is you take Lightningman's advice and call Mike Sandman, 630-980-7710. www.sandman.com They make current limiters, they have seen stuff like this before, they are not expensive and I have bought stuff from them for years. I don't make a penny from the referral, please reread the suggestion above from Lighteningman, I would guess dollars to donuts his suggestion will cure your situation.
