I insalled a Norstar-PLUS w/Softweae 6.0. The telephone sets are T7316e. The system does not see them as T7316e. It sees them as M7310. After reading the System Coordinator manual as I understand it, it will not read the T7316e with software 6.1 or older. Is this true? And does that mean I will have to upgrade the software? Advise.

There was a post on this awhile back I believe. You might search for it. If I remember right, you can plug in a 7310 or maybe a 7208 first and then plug in the 7316 and it will work. Worth a shot anyhow.

I've just finished searching and reviewing the search. I could not find anything in answer to this question.

I believe that 6.0 and older software will see the T7316e phone as a M7310 and only the bottom 5 buttons on both the left and right sides can be programmed for line buttons. Then in 6.1 the T7316e phone has full functionality.

6.1 or higher for fully funtional 7316e telephones. Otherwise they work like 7316 non e phones.

Yes, that is what I read in the System Coordinator Guide and kind of figured out. The main thing is the Hands free does not function under 6.0. Guess I'll have to upgrade. Thanks fellas.

The Handsfree should still function - IF you program it. It just won't work on the middle button under the dial pad. It will show up on the bottom right button of the phone......just like an M7310 phone.

Yes, you're right. What I did was take off one of the intercom buttons and set it to "1". The Handsfree was all ready enabled. It came on and was at the bottom right. It all work fine. So I do not have to upgrade the system after all.

Those T7316e phones will work. They will be seen as M7310 phones. The middle Handsfree button under the dial pad does not work. HF will be on the bottom right button. And the other BIG difference is that ONLY the bottom 5 buttons on the left and the bottom 5 buttons on the right can be programmed for Line Appearance, Intercom, etc... just like the M7310. The Top 3 buttons on the right and left can still be programmed for Auto Dial(internal & External) and Features. Other than that - the phones will still work ok.
