I think we need more information. Sounds like the "return to aa" is on and the caller is going to the auto attendant greeting (which is not recorded and its playing the canned msg).

Are you saying that personal Greeting ask to hit a * at the end of a Greeting? You have to teach your client to rerecord their personal Greeting with request to press a * key if they want to give an Option to the caller to be able to return to the Main Greeting. For that option to work you have in your set up "Return to AA" set to Yes. You cann't to make * key to direct a call to the Operator. Its can be done only if someone presses 0 or remain on line without pressing any button.

Its set up using greeting 1, they have their recording on there then after its over, the canned greeting comes on and says: to leave a message press star, for the company directory press pound, if you press star it repeats that canned message, return to AA was set to yes, i set it to no and got the same results... I have installed close to 100 startalks over the years and never ran into this but i have always used CCR ,I'm going back out and reprogramming it using CCR but still would like to know how to remedy that if i should run into it again.
Its a flash 4 2.2

Your AA menu prompt should be N, if you're using your own greeting.

What you are hearing is the "canned" message that comes on after the greeting, if you do not have a CCR. It is correct in saying, "hit * to leave a msg...."

If you hit star, then you will be sent directly to A voice mail box. Which one? you need to dial the mailbox number (usually matches the ext#) or you may hit # to get the directory.
After dialing the MB or a person's name, it will go to the mail box.

I usually remove the "canned" prompt.
If you want it to go to the operator's ext, then they should press '0' (hopefully you have that set up) or they can dial the ext number of the operator's phone.

P.S. - Here is the difference in directories:
If you press #: you get the directory then go to an extension.
If you press * then #: you will get the directory then go to a mail box.

I wasnt aware you could remove the canned msg, I'll have to look that up, thats what i need to do since it goes to the operators ext (22) after canned msg if nothing is pressed.
Thank you, Kevin

To remove it you have to record another message of your own.
My message is usually 1-2 sec of the phone on MUTE. Hit record, then hit stop.

You should never use a greeting to record your entire message. Greeting should only be a welcome message with intructions in either a CCR tree or a table message.

If you don't want to use the Norstar Nora, record your own instructions by changing AA prompt to no and recording your own prompt.

Recording 1 sec of silence will confuse a caller if they ever hit * to return to the AA.
