We just cut over to a new phone company yesterday. I was present during the cut. Our Nortel vendors tech did go into the programing to check a few things, but I believe that all I saw the tech do was unplug the cable from one company's T1 smart jack into the other company's.
Everything appears to be working well except now the caller ID shows as the number instead of the name of the caller. I am guessing that this is a Telecom company issue. Is there something I should be requesting from the Telcom company or do I have to match some setting on my BCM400 to get the name instead of number to show?

In programming for each set (extension) under the TELCO heading, there should be a "1st Display" setting. Change that to Name or Number.
But if you have it set for Name and the number shows up, it is probably because your provider is not sending the Name.
If CON is the opposite of PRO Then what is the opposite of Progress?

Looks like it was the Telco. They made and change and now we can see the caller ID.
Do different providers send the caller ID info differently because I noticed that when companies call their name appears, but now when a lot of home and cell phone callers call it comes up as the city and state a lot of the time rather than the name of the caller.

There are two type caller ID. "Caller ID" delivers just the number, and "Name & Number Caller-ID" deliver both. For me at home, with AT&T (BellSouth) it is the difference between $3.95 and $5.95 a month.
Cellphone carriers have not been consistant in caller-id delivery. Some companies will show name and number, some show city/st and number, and a few still just show nothing.
Knowing the nomenclature of features can save frustration when you are wanting to order a service from the telco, and they have 8 names for similar items and the CS rep has no clue what does what.
it's all tip and ring
