Just received a call from a remote site w/ a BCM 400 stating that 3 phones all stopped working at abruptly the same time. Had EU's try other phones at the locations and try the phones at locations that were working.
The 3 dn's in question are 222-4 which correspond to ports 202-4 on the bcm. I browsed to the bcm and see that those 3 ports are coming back as unequipped. From what I can reason it has to be either the ports on the system are done or the wiring for the 3 phones in the closet is at fault (leaning towards 1). Is there anything that can be done short of getting a new card, perhaps a way to reset the port in the phone system without powering it down and re-seating it. I'll try re-seating the amphernol when I get out there later today.

A tilted amphenol connector sure sounds like the culprit to me. We just had a call yesterday for the same issue and that's what it was.

Same thing that ED said. Check for the tiny little screw on the end of the amphenol. It will usually get in the way and prevent the plug from seating properly. Back it out of the way.

Thanks for the tips. Went there this morning and was able to resolve issue which was even simpler. We had an amphenol connected to the system and the other end had all 25 pairs punched down. Whomever installed it did a poor job supporting the additional cable, first 4 pairs ripped off the phone block. I just re-punched them, secured the cable, and went back to the phones. All were working properly. Like they say, an ounce of prevention...
