Our current system is NT5B11DA (I think it's a 616) which we run the 7000 series phones on. We want to make it compatible to run the M3000 series phones as well. What software upgrade do we need?

the system you have is a Norstar
the m3900 phones only work with the Nortel Option
switches
the only upgrade would be to buy an Option system

The M7xxx phones only work on Norstar.
So if you went with the Option those phones will not work.
If you need more phones, Upgrade the Norstar and don't use the 3000 series phones.

Actually, we would have both systems and have both phones. I have another question. We got some M7100 phones in and they don't work with our present system. We thought they were the same series. What do we need to have these phones work?

From my fact sheet I show that as a 616 DR1 4X8 Software Cartridge (NON-DS) NT5B11DA.

That is tooo old for the M7100.
You will need DR-5.1 to run the M7100 phones.

As we say here in Quebec, "Pardon my French", but why in hell would you want to have BOTH systems running? You wouldn't be able to transfer between them, etc.

If neither system is large enough to accomodate your needs, it's time to upgrade/trade-up to ONE bigger system.

The only people I know that have more than one system running at the same time (at the same location) is a tech like myself, who needs to test another one on the bench.
