Replaced 8x24 with MICS (kept exisiting 90 telephones). Intermittent - but frequent enough - static on random telephones not on the same module. It is not a cable or phone issue; replaced the power supply on KSU but still there. What next? I just hate to replace the KSU and have to reprogram the whole thing if it is not fairly certain.

Did you keep your copper connected modules or did you go all fiber?

Are you having static on Trunks or internal as well? Is it static or white noise? Are you using POTS or T1?

Your key word is old phones. You should be using T7316's or M series rev 19 or higher.

Initially swapped out a couple of the M7310's with T7316's. Didnt correct - Same problems.
Using POTS - there is more a white noise sound on them (there was none with the 8X24; certainly not noticeable like now) The static on internal is more a crackling (when it happens - remember this is intermittent, random, but WAY too often)

White noise on POTs lines is normal. What kind and rev of line cards are you using?

Extremely noticeable white noise on POTS normal? I have a hard time selling that to people after they spend $10,000.00 on a system when the one they had for 13 years prior to that wasn't doing it.
Three of the five LS/DS cards were in the 8x24 - not sure of the rev. We are removing POTS and adding a PRI in the next couple of weeks.
The real problem is with internal calls and set quality. Heavy static/volume fades in and out on internal Calls?

As i said above make sure you are using rev 19 or higher on the phones. There are issues with older phones that were being used back in the days of 824 modular.

But I have put in a couple of T316's and still experience problems at that location. ???
I appreciatte the insight on the rev 19; I gurantee you almost none of them are. But before I recommend they upgrade to all new phones I don't feel comfortable with the fact that a couple of T series phones I put in didn't correct it.
Could it be one bad trunk mod? Bad sta mod? KSU? The maint log is not giving me any event codes or alarm codes I can see.
Thanks Marv for any help!
