Hi,
I just installed a CAP module on my secretary's M7324. When plugging in the M7324 through the CAP module, the M7324 phone itself works fine. However, the CAP does not light up, nor can I program any buttons on it.
Do I need to change anything in the system settings, or do I need some type of power supply for it even though I only have one CAP on one M7324 in my system? If so, where do I plug in the power supply to the CAP at?
Thanks for any help!

OK, after some more research, I have realized that our office is wired with only 4-pin phone lines?? Thus, would enough power not be supplied for one CAP module with only the 4-wire phone lines? Do I not need six wires per line to power a CAP? If this is the case, can I not get an external power module from somewhere to power the CAP? Where does it plug in at?

Power comes to the second pair of the jack but besides that you have to assign CAP to 7324's extension to be able to activate it. if you never done it better call some experienced tech.

the cap gets its powwer from the second pair, polarity matters, some people power the cap off a aux power pair on a valcomm paging system, myself my supplier makes me a pigtail with a power block that you plug in the jack then i plug the phone into the pigtail. PM me if you need more info

you will need a Norstar Station Auxiliary Power Supply (SAPS) NT8B60CA to power up the cap. all you need to do is punch it down to the 2nd pair of your jack, i normally do that in the phone closet. you do not have to go through programing to assign the cap, it will work automatically, although it is recommended that you do assign it.

i guess my real question is, as this line is already ran from the phone closet to the far office with only four wires in the line, is there some way I can provide the power to the phone in the office? Like convert the four wire line in the office (and plug in extra power) to a six wire and then plug into the phone, without having to re-run the whole phone cable to the office from the closet??? If so what do I need, how to do?? Thanks for any help! SOOOOOO appreciated.

Place a power supply in the closet and wire it to the 2nd pair of the jack at the punchblock. It takes one jumper, why would you run a whole new cable? If these instructions still go over your head, please let a professional perform this task.

You only have to assign it in software if you want to assign trunks to the cap module..also worse case put power supply at jack location and just wire it up at office end.

The 7324 runs on 1 pair, the red and green wires. The cap uses the same pair for data. It's just basically acts like an extension of the 7324 keyboard, so power can be applied to the black/yellow pair to run the cap. And Jay, newer production doesn't care about polarity, since they have a FWB rectifier to correct wrong polarity problems. When did NT start that? Beats me, only way I know to tell for sure is open up the cap and check! Maybe somebody else here can tell us how to determine without opening. John C. (Not Garand)
